One of these things is not like the other...

While we can’t be sure, we believe that one of the three little chicks just may be a rooster.

This “little guy” is showing signs…

1.There is some definite (and more prominent) comb development going on.
2.He stands a bit taller, more erect and his legs do appear to be slightly longer (another sign).
3.But we really got tipped off when he started jumping into the middle of the feed bowl for the big hens and starting trying to fight them off like he was "the chosen one" in the Matrix. Yeah…that was a clue.

Only time will tell as we await an egg or a crow :).

Meanwhile, the other two chicks, and Mom and Dad are doing just fine. Mom has kept the chicks mostly indoors, but lately in the quiet of early evening she has been venturing out with them and letting them explore their world a bit.

It’s been fascinating to watch how they learn what to do by watching her, the other hens and Joe – who is never far away and keeps careful watch over his new little family :).
